White or Milk Chocolate Chip Brownies

White or Milk Chocolate Chip Brownies

This recipe is really easy to make and tastes great! It is a great recipe to experiment with, you can try swapping the chocolate for walnuts if you prefer a more textured and nutty brownie.

175g (6oz) margarine (I used Stork)

350g (12oz) caster sugar

1 tsp vanilla essence

3 eggs

100g (4oz) plain flour

1 tsp baking powder

75g (3oz) cocoa powder

175g (6oz) white or milk chocolate chips (or even use a combination)

1. Preheat the oven to 180℃/Gas mark 4

2. Grease and line a 9x12" traybake tin

3. Melt the margarine in a pan on a low heat. Pour into a large mixing bowl, then add sugar and vanilla essence and mix well

4. Break the eggs into a small bowl and beat them, add them to the margarine mixture a little at a time and beat well

5. Sift flour, baking powder and cocoa powder into the mixture and mix well

6. Add the chocolate chips to the brownie mixture and combine well

7. Pour the brownie mixture into the tray and smooth the top with a spoon

8. Bake for about 35-40 minutes, the brownies are ready when they have risen and have formed a crust on top. They should still be soft in the middle

9. Leave the brownies in the tin for 5 minutes then cut into squares, leave on a wire rack to cool.
